Doha, 29 June 2015 – QNB, One of the World’s Strongest Banks, recently launched an application considered the first of its kind, that aims to revive Qatari traditions using the latest smartphone and tablet technology.

The game can be downloaded from the App Store as well as Google Play and can be played as a single player or in a multiplayer setting. It features four different characters: Abdullah, Noura, Salem, and Ali and a soundtrack that includes the traditional Garengao song.

The new application comes in the form of a videogame named “Garengao Challenge” developed by QNB in cooperation with the Idea Media and Modhesh Entertainment. The app comes as a continuation of QNB’s efforts to create new ideas to commemorate the bank’s annual celebration of the Garengao night during the holy month of Ramadan.

The application is a first of its kind in Qatar and the GCC. It allows children and adults to enjoy a modern game, while celebrating Qatari traditions.

QNB will hold a special Garengao celebration on the 13th and 14th of Ramadan at a designated space at the 3rd floor of City Center mall. Festivities will begin at 7:30 PM and continue until midnight. During the celebration, Garengao treats will be given to the attendees, and there will be photography sessions for children with the new game’s characters, in addition to various games and activities during the two-day event.

The Garengao treats offered by QNB this year do not only include bags of sweet treats. The bank is also offering people of all ages the chance to download this free application from the App Store and Google Play and have fun with its four characters, who compete to gather the greatest amount of sweets and gifts. The players can advance through the game’s stages every time they gather enough points to complete the levels that merge the beauty of tradition with interactive backgrounds that feature many of Doha city’s modern landmarks.

The aim of the game is to guide the character from one place to another while avoiding water obstacles that separate the buildings designed after real Doha landmarks. The game also features a prominent ATM bearing the QNB logo. Victory is achieved by gathering the largest number of sweets and scoring the most points.

QNB offers many CSR initiatives, not only limited to entertainment or culture, but in many different fields designated by the bank’s CSR Strategy. Activities are mainly are split into six areas: Arts and culture, economic and international affairs, health and environment, social and humanitarian affairs, sports, and youth and education.
