QNB's support of such events is part of the Bank’s commitment to support the growth and development of talented athletes and sportsmen capable of representing Qatar on the international sporting stage. This tournament is, additionally, a major initiative to promote sport and sporting spirit within the country’s military community, irrespective of age and gender.

Through its support of the tournament, QNB also affirms its strong relationship with the military sports activity as well as the Qatar Tennis Federation and the Bank’s support of the strategic objectives of both organisations to further engage various segments of Qatar’s community. This tournament in particular is an opportunity to promote sport among girls and women as well as recognise the achievements of national sportswomen who represent Qatar in various professional sports.

Captain Mohammed Jassim Al Kuwari, the Tournament Director expressed his pleasure in continuing this strategic partnership with QNB which helps promote sport in the country at large. This is especially significant, he said, considering that this is the first QAF tennis tournament involving both members of the military and civilians, giving them a new way to connect with each other and promote community spirit overall.

The event, which commenced on 5 November 2009, welcomed 211 players of various ages, participating in a total of 355 matches. The tournament categories included children of 10, 12 and 14 years, as well as an under-18 tournament. These included singles, doubles and mixed doubles competition. There was also a category for those above 45.

QNB is a major patron of sport and regularly sponsors numerous sporting events such as this. The Bank will continue to promote events, both of international and local significance, that promote the State of Qatar and the role of sport in the country.
