Doha, 12 December 2009 - Qatar National Bank (QNB) has extended its support to the Qatar Orphan Foundation (Dhreima Center) as part of the Bank’s continuing efforts to support the community at various levels of society.
The Bank’s support aims to inspire the community to uphold the values of solidarity, compassion and cooperation to support less fortunate vulnerable segment of society.
QNB’s sponsorship will help the Dhreima Center in carrying out its considerable responsibilities which includes helping orphans in Qatar fulfill their potential and become an integral part of a well-qualified and educated future generation capable of contributing to the growth of the country achieving social development, which is one of the four pillars of the Qatar national vision 2030.
Dhreima, launched in June 2003 under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Misnad, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, is a public non-profit organization which benefits from the support of institutions such as QNB as well as from the personal participation of numerous volunteers working to improve the lives of the children placed under the Center’s supervision.
Dhreima’s name comes from the bluish-violet “Dhreima flower” indigenous to Qatar which signifies the beauty and innocence of these children. The Dhreima plant is also hardy and has thrived in the tough climate of Qatar for many centuries, representing the difficulties the children often endure in their youth.
Dhreima provides both residential and non-residential care for these children. Residential services include providing the children with shelter in a home belonging to the Center, inclusive of each child’s material, health and psychological needs, in a homely atmosphere and under the direct supervision of Dhreima’s staff while providing family for hosts the child.
Dhreima also provides non-residential services to children who have been placed in foster homes, including supervision of their transition to the new home and helping both the children and their families with all the necessary support required to ensure the child has the best possible upbringing.
