QNB organizes Diabetes at Work awareness day

Doha, 14 November, 2018 -- QNB, the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, has organized an awareness initiative ‘’Diabetes at Work’’ Day to mark the World Diabetes Day and raise awareness about diabetes risk factors and encourage its employees to make healthy changes. 

Organized in collaboration with the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), at its Al-Mathaf Tower building, the event comes within QNB’s ongoing initiatives to encourage improved health practices amongst employees.

During the event, QDA team conducted a diabetes awareness program, by offering screening to all employees for undiagnosed diabetes, including blood glucose and blood pressure test, along with analyzing their weight and body mass index (BMI), based on which they provided them with healthy diet and lifestyle tips to improve their health.

The event highlights also the importance of early detection and treatment of diabetes as an important step toward keeping people with diabetes healthy. It also raises awareness among the bank’s staff how it can help to reduce the risk of serious complications such as premature heart disease and stroke, blindness, limb amputations, and kidney failure.

The initiative affirms the Group’s robust CSR strategy based on six main pillars, most prominent of which is the health sector, and in accordance with Qatar's National Vision (QNV) 2030 that recognizes both the importance of healthcare delivery and improving the population's health.

The Group’s presence through its subsidiaries and associate companies now extends to more than 31 countries across three continents providing a comprehensive range of advanced products and services. The total number of employees is around 29,000 operating through more than 1,200 locations, with an ATM network of more than 4,300 machines.
